The Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, in collaboration with the "Women in Climate and Energy" NGO, with funding of the United Nations Development Programme and in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia,  is organizing an award ceremony titled "Climate Change and Women in Armenia." The event aims to recognize the contributions and leadership of women in climate change mitigation and adaptation activities and solutions

The event will serve as a significant platform for disseminating best practices, promoting stakeholder collaboration, and highlighting the disproportionate impact of climate change on women and men.

Award nominations within the implemented projects include:

  • Climate Change Mitigation Solutions,
  • Climate Change Adaptation Solutions,
  • Community Actions in Climate and Policy,
  • Awareness Raising on Climate Issues and Solutions,
  • Climate Education for All,
  • Climate Financing and Innovation Solutions,
  • Youth in Climate Action.

During the award ceremony, there will be a special award dedicated to the promotion of climate solutions, aiming to encourage new projects led or coordinated by women or girls. Winners will be selected in two categories:

  • Best solution with technical/technological component,
  • Best solution with non-technical component.

Applications for participation in the award ceremony can be submitted by self-nomination or nomination. Eligible participants are women and girls who have been leaders, initiators, or coordinators of the presented program, project, action, or solution, or have made a professional contribution (legal, financial, economic, climate-related, etc.) to the implementation of the program, project, action, or solution.

Private and public organizations in the field, educational institutions, regional and community bodies, and organizations can nominate candidates. An organization or structure may nominate more than one program, solution, or candidate.

In case of self-nomination, at least one letter of recommendation must be submitted. When filling out the application, candidates must provide the email address of one or more referees, to whom the organizers will send a request for a letter of recommendation.

Only one candidate can be nominated for each category. Actions aimed at solving cross-cutting issues can be nominated in a maximum of two categories.

The submitted solutions must have been implemented within the last three years.

All programs or solutions that meet the selection criteria will be published in an e-brochure. Completing the application is encouraged if the work or solution was aimed at climate change mitigation and/or adaptation, with results that had a real, long-term, and replicable impact, examples that were shared by other communities or countries.
